Em sua 8a. temporada, que estreia em 26/09/2012, o seriado americano Criminal Minds, do canal CBS, traz uma nova personagem: uma linguista forense!
A personagem é professora de Linguística na Georgetown University "part-time" e agente "full-time" do FBI, trabalhando para a BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) como profiler.
O linguista e ex agente do FBI Jim Fitzgerald (já postei uma vez um link para o seu curso online aqui) foi o consultor da série.
Acho isso uma ótima oportunidade para a visibilidade da área. E aqui eu cito o Jim Fitzgerald sobre isso: "In closing here, I hope this new character on Criminal Minds will be viewed by my fellow list members as providing positive exposure to the field of forensic linguistics to those who otherwise may know little or nothing about it. I see it as an opportunity, albeit in a fictional entertainment genre, to hopefully educate the viewing public about the value of forensic linguistics and, even if indirectly, the good work our list members are doing" (2012.
